“Isa”とは人類であり、神々であり、その幽霊のようなもの。

 

 

Croatian Amorは、デンマークはコペンハーゲンを拠点にするアーティストLoke Rahbekのメインプロジェクトである。Loke RahbekはCroatian Amor以外にも多数のプロジェクトを並行して動かしてきた。ブラックメタル／ハードコアバンドSexdrome、Hannes Norrvideがフロントマンを務めるLust For Youth、ICEAGEのメンバーらと行っていたVår、Christian Stadsgaard (Vanity Productions)とのデュオDamien Dubrovnik、さらにOlymphia、Body Sculptures、LRなど、そしてレーベルPosh Isolationのファウンダーとしての顔も持っている。Croatian Amorとしては2016年の『Love Means Taking Action』以来のアルバムである『Isa』について、メールインタビューを行った。

 

 

– あなたは昔から複数のプロジェクトを並行して行ってきましたが、現在はCroatian Amorと本名名義のLoke Rahbekがあなたのメインプロジェクトになるのでしょうか？

 

Croatian Amor – これまでも同時にいくつものプロジェクトを進行させてきた。複数のプロジェクトを同時進行させるのは、ワクワクするよ。プロジェクトごとに人も違えば、考え方も違うし、個性があるんだよ。今は、昔のようなペースでは働いていない。限界が近かったからね。今は少しの仕事に集中するようにしているんだ。

 

今回のアルバム『Isa』に関しての質問です。本作は『Love Means Taking Action』以来ですが、その間にもLoke Rahbekとして作品をリリースしています。他の名義での制作やリリースが『Isa』の制作にも影響していますか？

 

Croatian Amor – どんな新しい作品でも、過去からのものを土台にしていると思うんだ。みんな互いに影響しあっているし、音楽ができる前から、全てのことは繋がっている。子どもの頃に書いた絵とかメモを見つけて、未熟なんだけど、やっぱりそれも同じ空間を共有していた。でも新しい音楽には、新しい使命のようなものや、未開拓の地平というものがある。そうじゃないと、新しい音楽をやる意味なんてないんだ。

 

 

– メランコリックでポップな面と実験的な面が不思議なバランスで保たれていて、素晴らしいアルバムだと思いました。以前よりも強調されたリズム面や、Jonnine Standishなど参加アーティストの歌も印象的です。アルバムのコンセプトはありますか？あれば教えてください。

– 特にアルバム最後の『In World Cell』は心が浄化されるような感動がある曲です。2013年の作品『The World』の頃から美しいメロディがCroatian Amorの特徴の一つだと思っていました。メロディはどのようなものから影響を受けていますか？

 

Croatian Amor – メロディーが好きなんだ。気に入ってもらえて嬉しいよ。どこから影響を受けたのかは分からない。考えるままに演奏しただけだし、もちろんあらゆるものがその中には入り込んでいるんだよね。

 

– あなたは多作なアーティストですが、オフの日はありますか？あるとしたら、何をして過ごしていますか？

 

Croatian Amor – 2日前は、南ポルトガルを散歩していたんだ。野生のフラミンゴの群れに出会ったり、アーモンドを拾ったり、オレンジを木から摘んで食べたりした。

 

 

– 普段はどんな音楽を聴いていますか？最近よく聴いている曲やアーティストがあれば教えてください。

 

Croatian Amor – 今はフライトの最中で、FenneszやVargがこれからリリースする新作、Mini Escoが新しく作った最高のデモテープなんかを聴いているよ。

 

– 現在のコペンハーゲンのシーンはどのような感じですか？新たな若いアーティストは生まれていますか？

 

Croatian Amor – コペンハーゲンからはたくさん素晴らしい音楽が生まれていると思う。いくつか名前を挙げようかな。もっとたくさんいるんだけど、とりあえず思いついた人たちを言うよ。Oqbqbo、CTM、Boli Group、KYO、Scandinavian Star、Ydegirl、Astrid Sonne、Sugar、KhalilH2OP、Age Coin、Smerz、だね。

 

 

– あなたにとって理想の未来はどのようなものですか？

 

Croatian Amor – それについてはあまり深く考えないようにしているかな。

– Since you have always worked with several projects in parallel, i would like to know if Loke Rahbek and Croatian Amor is your main projects at the moment.

 

Croatian Amor – I used to have many projects going at the same time, running from one project to the next, i thought it was exciting, different personel, different dogmas, different colours. I dont run as fast now, i got too close to running out. Now i try to focus on just a few things at a time.

 

– This is a question about “Isa” your new album. this is your first album under the Croatian Amor name since “Love Means Taking Action” which came out in 2016, but you have also other works under your real name. did the production of your different projects affect the production of “Isa”.

 

Croatian Amor – I think every new work builds on top of what came before, they all effect each other. They are all interconnected, even before the music. i found old drawings and notes from my early youth and it was so obvious they occupied the same space, in raw format. But every time it comes with a new mission of sorts, or a new area to explore, otherwise what would be the point.

 

– I think it is a wonderful album that maintains a marvelous balance between melancholic pop and experimental aspects. the rhythmic aspect has been accentuated more than before and the songs with your guest artists, including jonnine standish are also impressive. where there any concepts for the album? if any please share?

 

Croatian Amor – “Isa” is about humans, Gods and their ghosts

 

“In World Cell” the last song on the album is especially moving, as it makes me feel like my heart has been cleansed. Since “the world” 2013, i have thought that beautiful melodies are a strong characteristic of CA, what influences have u had for your melodies?

 

Croatian Amor – I like melodies, i am glad you like them. for influences i dont know. i just play i think and ofcourse all kinds of stuff falls into it

 

– since you are a hard working artist- do you have any off days, what do you do on your off days?

 

Croatian Amor – Two days ago i went on a walk in the south of Portugal, we saw a wild pack of flamingos and we picked almonds and oranges of the trees and ate them.

 

– What kind of music do you usually listen to? anything you have been listening to recently please share.

 

Croatian Amor – Right now i am on a flight and i am listening to Fennesz, an upcoming Varg release and some new incredible demos from Mini Esco

 

– What is the scene like right now in copenhagen. Any new artists to mention?

 

Croatian Amor – I think there is a lot of great music coming out of copenhagen now. Here are some names to check, there is more much more but this came to mind first. Oqbqbo, CTM, Boli Group, KYO, Scandinavian Star, Ydegirl, Astrid Sonne, Sugar, KhalilH2OP, Age Coin, Smerz

 

– What do you think is the ideal future for you?

 

Croatian Amor – I try to not think about it too much.
